Plot

High school misfits Stoney and Dave discover a long-frozen primeval man buried in their backyard. But the thawed-out Link—as the boys have named him—quickly becomes a wild card in the teens' already zany Southern California lives. After a shave and some new clothes, Link's presence at school makes the daily drudgery a lot more interesting.

Dave and Stoney, two suburban high school outcasts, think their social lives are buried forever—until they dig up a frozen, perfectly preserved cave dweller in Dave's backyard. After thawing their prehistoric discovery, they give him a total 90s makeover, name him Link, and pass him off as a wildly eccentric foreign exchange student. While Dave hopes Link is his ticket to winning over his dream girl, Stoney accidentally turns the Cro-Magnon wild man into a hallway legend. But as Link's chaotic charm takes the student body by storm, instant fame raises the stakes. Now, a jealous bully is obsessed with uncovering the newcomer's secret and ruining their reputation before prom night. With no turning back, can a teenage Neanderthal survive modern high school life and help two losers finally claim victory?
