Plot

“Drums in the Night” is the nth variation of the myth about Odysseus, who years later returned to his Penelope, when she was just about to get married. Only Andreas Kragler did not fight for Troy, but for some unknown reason, somewhere in Africa, he was absent for only four years, and his Anna is besieged not by a hundred suitors, but by only one, and his name is Friedrich Murch. The director turned "Drums" into a variation on the theme of the medieval Danse Macabre, in which the whole society is involved. The war rumbling in the distance is coming ever closer to their homes, a revolution is already flaring up in the newspaper districts, but the dancers have nothing to do with it. The cheerful space of the cabaret is inhabited by freaks who seem to have just risen from hell. The plot of the film reveals deep psychological and social conflicts, immersing the viewer in an emotionally rich story. The main characters face difficult life choices, overcome a series of serious trials and search for their own path to truth and justice. The director's work is distinguished by the highest mastery of storytelling, impeccable framing and attention to the smallest details of the character of each character. The visuals and cinematography highlight the unique atmosphere of the film, creating a unique effect of complete presence. The musical accompaniment is in perfect harmony with the events taking place on the screen, enhancing the drama of key moments and leaving an unforgettable impression after viewing. This film is deservedly one of the best films of its genre and will be an ideal choice for our movie evening on the roof.
