Plot

After her husband leaves her, Gwen goes to live with her sister Queenie. She discovers that she has suddenly acquired a special gift that enables her to make mechanical objects work again and also healing powers. As news of this travels they find themselves pursued by the press and people and take refuge in the home of a wealthy elderly woman cured by Gwen. Gwen is disturbed by all the publicity, but Queenie relishes it and claims she has is a medium.

Martha Plimptons performance is real and inspired. her continued theatrical and independent film performance has me returning to see her. In this film she is also supported by a strong cast and a dark yet endearing script as the film takes a satirical and madcap look at one womens mystical gift. I was able to see this film at the tribecca film festival and I really look forward to more works from this director. This may seem like a strange comment for a movie that is not intended for costume greatness... but the clothing truly sets the mood and creates an endearing authenticity for each of the characters.
