Plot

In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters converge around young Arvin Russell as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family.

Willard Russell returns from the horrors of the Pacific theater haunted by his own mercy killings, ultimately transferring his fractured psyche and religious obsession to his son, Arvin. Following his parents' deaths, Arvin grows into a stoic protector in a town decaying under the weight of corrupt law enforcement and a sociopathic preacher. The intersection of these lives creates a volatile nexus of violence. After the tragic demise of his stepsister, Arvin navigates a bloody path of vengeance, eventually crossing state lines and colliding with a pair of serial killers. In a landscape where faith functions as a mask for predation, Arvin struggles to break the cycle of blood that defines his existence.
