Plot

A once-celebrated kid detective, now 31, continues to solve the same trivial mysteries between hangovers and bouts of self-pity. Until a naive client brings him his first 'adult' case, to find out who brutally murdered her boyfriend.

Abe/Adam Brody already had a flair for solving cases/mysteries as a preteen kid detective. He dealt with thefts etc. which sometimes got him into trouble with the culprits. His friend/secretary Gracie disappeared when she was 14. Even as an adult he's doing kid's cases such as simple thefts, lies, finding cats etc. At 32, he shares an apartment but has his own office and secretary. But then one day, there's a high school girl, Caroline/Sophie Nélisse, in his office with a real case. He found her stolen silver bracelet in an hour years ago. Now she needs his help to find out who stabbed her boyfriend Patrick Chang, an honor student, 17 times. The police aren't getting anywhere. The case takes him around town with Caroline driving. Abe's parents worry about him as it's his first murder/real case.
