Plot

A comic fantasy about the life, love and death of the famous Baron Munchausen, who lived in the 18th century and became the hero of many funny books and legends, is based on the characters and episodes of the famous novel by R. Raspe, but is essentially an independent work. “A thinking person is simply obliged to pull himself up by the hair from time to time” - it seems that the authors of the film succeed in this. The Baron wants to marry his beloved Martha, but the church refuses to marry them, since there is a living wife who has “pacified him for 20 years.” Tired Martha wants the baron to become like everyone else, but the baron does not want this, and cannot. The Duke will allow the marriage only if the Baron confirms in writing that all his stories are false, and that he himself is an ordinary person. The plot of the film reveals deep psychological and social conflicts, immersing the viewer in an emotionally rich story. The main characters face difficult life choices, overcome a series of serious trials and search for their own path to truth and justice. The director's work is distinguished by the highest mastery of storytelling, impeccable framing and attention to the smallest details of the character of each character. The visuals and cinematography highlight the unique atmosphere of the film, creating a unique effect of complete presence. The musical accompaniment is in perfect harmony with the events taking place on the screen, enhancing the drama of key moments and leaving an unforgettable impression after viewing. This film is deservedly one of the best films of its genre and will be an ideal choice for our movie evening on the roof.
