Plot

Inspector Clouseau disappears, and the Surete wants the world's second best detective to look for him. However, Clouseau's enemy, Dreyfus, rigs the Surete's computer to select, instead, the world's WORST detective, NYPD Sgt. Clifton Sleigh. Sleigh obtusely bungles his way past assassins and corrupt officials as though he were Clouseau's American cousin.

Legendary director Blake Edwards ignites a powder keg of laughter in this delightful caper involving the most inefficient search for France's most inept detective. With Clouseau still missing, the French president orders Clouseau's archrival - the deranged Dreyfus - to find him. Having no such intentions, Dreyfus ingeniously hires the world's worst detective, New York Police Department's not-so-finest Clifton Sleigh, to ensure that Clouseau is never located.
